Imam Al Shafi'i Mosque in Cairo
A circular stairway snakes its way to the roof of the Imam Al Shafi'i Mosque where a minerat dating back to the era of Khadive Tawfiq (1891) is visible in Cairo's City of the Dead, Egypt, 19 March 2009. The mosque was built next to the Mausoleum of Imam al Shafi'i who founded one of the four rites of Islam and is considered to be one of the great Muslim saints. His mausoleum is a place of pilgrimage and since medieval times is one of the most holy Islamic sites in Cairo
