No matter who you root for, come NFL season, its hard not to respect Peyton Manning.
He is a class act on and off the field, and also a conservative and Christian. But what most people dont know is that Peyton also goes out of his way to do extraordinary things for ordinary people, and most times wont even let his publicist tell the media.
Last night, Manning visited the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway, the sight of one of the Chattanooga attacks last week. Manning visited with the military members and police officers on site, really boosting morale, according to one Navy man.
The media did not get wind of it, and we didnt find out until the officers themselves posted pictures.
From WRCB via WZ:
Multiple police and Navy sources tell Channel 3 that Peyton Manning showed up at the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway where four U.S. Marines were shot dead by a lone gunman last week.
A fifth service member died from injuries he suffered on Saturday. A Chattanooga police officer remains hospitalized from injuries he suffered.
The record-breaking quarterback for the Denver Broncos, who played football for the University of Tennessee, showed up at the reserve late Saturday night to visit with military personnel and police officers.
After Mannings visit, officers posted photos on social media.
The reserve, as of Saturday, remained an active scene of federal investigators and police officers standing guard. Its one of two locations where the gunman opened fire.
The attack, which is being investigated as a domestic terrorism incident, has left the Tennessee Valley in mourning.
The location is still shut down as part of the federal investigation of a domestic terrorist attack.
Props to Manning for showing his support and concern for the Tennessee community.
