Photographer Rich Cormack, amongst thousands of others, snapped a photo of the Tribute in Light at the World Trade Center site — but he got more than he bargained for.
The freelancer, from Jersey City, captured the single beam of light shooting into the sky last week and, when viewing the images, spotted a ghostly apparition atop the light beam.
Sharing the picture on social media, many viewers were quick to point out the ghostly figure’s resemblance to Jesus Christ.
Despite criticism that McCormack had doctored the images, he insists they’re real and that the apparition only appears in one photo.
The image was a source of comfort to the families of the 2,996 people who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks, with many commenting that it “restored faith” and proved “God is watching over us always”.
