Steve Huffman, the CEO of Reddit, confessed to editing posts on the pro-Donald Trump subreddit r/The_Donald. Huffman, who posts under the username u/spez, edited posts that insulted him and replaced his name with the moderators of r/The_Donald. Huffman promised that this would never happen again.

Huffman’s admission, with expletives deleted:
Yep. I messed with the “f**k u/spez ” comments, replacing “spez” with r/the_donald mods for about an hour. It’s been a long week here trying to unwind the r/pizzagate stuff. As much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly. As the CEO, I shouldn’t play such games, and it’s all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won’t do this again.
Many Reddit members were furious that the website’s chief executive had edited messages, and accused him of censorship.users of “The_Donald” are accusing Huffman of having destroyed Reddit’s credibility — given that the site has previously shut down controversial subreddit communities over illegal content posted there, they’re now accusing Huffman of laying the groundwork for a crackdown on “The_Donald,” with whom Reddit leadership has long had a contentious relationship,Reddit users were frustrated last year to the point where they staged the “Reddit Revolt,” which saw members of the site stage protests after the controversial firing of a well-liked employee community manager Victoria Taylor. It sparked a huge protest by users of the site, with moderators closing down parts of the site and led to the chief executive at the time, Ellen Pao, resigning.
The reaction from Donald Trump supporters was swift, and a petition has been created on Change.Org calling for Huffman to resign as CEO.
